Martin “Marty” Leiman
Martin “Marty” Leiman was a furniture designer and sculptor who designed several Laurel Lamp Company pieces. Leiman was employed by furniture designer J. Gordon Perlmutter during the late 1950s and also worked under the name “Leiman of California”.
Leiman seen above with Laurel President, Harold J. Weiss, designed for Laurel in various capacities throughout the 1960s and 70s.
In 1974 Leiman designed Laurel #H-1053 commonly referred to as the “brush stroke” or “swoosh” lamp.
In 1978 Leiman is credited with designing 5 new pieces for Laurel which were displayed at the 1978 Los Angeles Furniture Mart.
