About The Laurel Lamp Foundation

The Laurel Lamp Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to researching, documenting, and preserving the design history and legacy of the Laurel Lamp Company (1946–1981).

Established by descendants of Laurel's co-founders, Max and Harold Weiss, the Foundation was created to preserve the company's historical record and catalog its contributions to American lighting and furniture design.

Our Mission

The mission of the Laurel Lamp Foundation is to preserve the historical record of the Laurel Lamp Company, document the people and stories behind the company, and ensure its contributions to and impact on modern lighting design are accurately represented for future generations.

Through archival research, historical documentation, and collaboration with collectors, researchers, and institutions, the Laurel Lamp Foundation works to expand our collective understanding of Laurel's history and influence.

Archival Resources

The Laurel Lamp Foundation maintains a growing collection of historical catalogs, advertisements, photographs, and other archival materials documenting the company's designs and history.

Selected materials are available through our Archives, providing collectors, researchers, and enthusiasts with resources to explore Laurel's legacy.

The Foundation also offers free authentication services to assist in identifying and documenting original Laurel Lamp Company designs.

Ongoing Research

While the Foundation has assembled a substantial collection of historical materials, many aspects of Laurel's history remain undocumented or have yet to be rediscovered.

As new information comes to light, our understanding of the company's designs, designers, and history continues to evolve. We welcome new discoveries, corrections, and firsthand accounts that contribute to a more complete and accurate historical record.
